Oral Healthcare

Oral health should also be taken as a part of normal health. People get little attention about the oral cavity and the oral health; which is the gateway of many diseases including severe systemic diseases. The oral cavity includes dentitions and the soft tissue including gingival, palatal mucosa; tongue; lips; maxilla and mandible; and the temporomandibular joints. The leading diseases in the world are dental caries and the periodontal diseases. These diseases occur because of bacteria present in the dental plaque which is a soft tenacious layer deposited in the dentition as early as two hours after food intake. Besides these the periodontal diseases are the sixth complications of diabetes which has shown two way relationships with the periodontal diseases. The primary aim of tooth brushing is to remove the plaque and get rid of these oral diseases. To keep our mouth healthy, we have to brush twice daily after meal with soft toothbrush and rinse with water after intake of any foods including chocolates. If any symptoms occur like the persistent bleeding from gum and dental pain occur; we have to consult the recognized dentist for the appropriate treatment. So it is mandatory to have regular check up for the prevention of oral diseases.
